Evernote Review (2026): Is the Comeback Story Real, or Too Little, Too Late?

Evernote spent years losing users to Notion and Obsidian. We tested the “new” Evernote over three weeks to see if the rebuild is worth a second look.
The Comeback Pitch
After a rough stretch of crashes, price hikes, and stalled features, Evernote was rebuilt from the ground up under new ownership. The claim: faster, more reliable, modern.
The Good
- Markedly faster than the old, bloated app.
- Clean, modern UI. No more dated toolbars.
- Battletested sync across devices is rock solid.
- Web Clipper is still the best way to save articles.
The Bad
- Free tier is limited (2 devices on the free plan is a real constraint).
- Pricing crept up. Even after the rebuild, subscriptions are not cheap.
- Still less flexible than Notion’s databases or Obsidian’s vaults.
Compared to the Competition
If you want plain, reliable, beautiful notes that sync everywhere: Evernote. If you want to build custom databases: Notion. If you want local, markdown-based knowledge: Obsidian.
Pricing
Free (2 devices); Personal ~$10/month; Professional $14.99/month. Annual billing discounts available.
Final Verdict
7/10 — A solid, dependable note app again, but not the must-have it once was. Good for people who want reliability over tinkering. Power organizers are better served by Notion or Obsidian.
