DuckDuckGo Browser Review (2026): Privacy That Works, or Just a Gimmick?

We made DuckDuckGo’s browser our daily driver for two weeks. Privacy features impressed; usability has rough edges.

What It Is

DuckDuckGo’s privacy browser — built-in tracker blocking, cookie protection, email masking, and a privacy-first search engine.

The Good

  • Sensible defaults. Tracker blocking, cookie pop-up management, and HTTPS enforcement work out of the box.
  • Fire button. Wipe browsing data instantly.
  • Email Protection. @duck.com aliases hide your real address.
  • Lightweight and honest about what it does.

The Bad

  • Extension ecosystem is thin. Not Chrome-level compatibility.
  • Syncing across devices is more limited than Chrome/Firefox.
  • Some sites behave slightly worse with strict blocking.

Who Should Use It

Privacy-conscious daily users on Windows/Mac/Android. Not for power users hooked on Chrome extensions or full sync.

Final Verdict

7.5/10 — Genuine privacy, decent browsing. Best as a secondary browser or for people who care about tracking. Power users may miss Chrome’s ecosystem.
